Itinerary

DAY 1: SIEM REAP ARRIVAL
Upon arrival inside the immigration hall, look for our Representative holding the paging board with your names on it. Please ensure that each of you has one passport photo with you and has completed your paper form on the flight in order to ensure that this process is as quick and efficient as possible. Our Representative will collect your passport and your passport photo and will assist to fast-track your visa application before leading you to the baggage claim where you can pick up your luggage, and then escort you to meet your guide, who is waiting outside the arrival terminal. You will then be transferred to your hotel. (Early check-in is NOT included and is subject to hotel availability).

In Siem Reap orientation by visiting the Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm, which is the local main shrine in Siem Reap, you will learn about the local beliefs and culture from this shrine. Said to represent two Angkorian princesses, these sacred statues were originally housed at the Preah Poan gallery in Angkor Wat but were moved all over Siem Reap to protect them from invaders, eventually settling here in 1990. Locals throng here to pray for luck, especially newlyweds, and it is an atmospheric place to visit around dusk, as the incense smoke swirls around. Next to the shrine are the tall trees of the Royal Gardens, home to a resident colony of fruit bats (also known as flying foxes), which takes off to feed on insects around dusk.

Lunch at the local restaurant

Next, you will be transferring to Tonle Sap Lake to visit the floating village, arrive at the quay for embarking on a motorized boat to visit the floating houses village offering an incredible natural phenomenon of making their lives from the lake in a respectful and meaningful way. This is a great chance to witness one of Cambodia and the world’s most amazing natural wonders. Drive back to Siem Reap. (Note***floating community is recommended from September to February). Return to hotel for check-in at around 4 pm and free at leisure.

6.00 PM: Explore Siem Reap at night by tuk-tuk to experience Cambodia’s nightlife in full, from the local people’s customs to the activities geared to tourists. Walking through the food markets, enjoying dinner with local beer/soft drink in the local beer garden, insect salad (if you are brave enough to try), visiting night markets or you may want to try a foot massage by fish (own account). At the end of the trip, take the short tuk-tuk ride back to your hotel.

DAY 2: SIEM REAP – ANGKOR TEMPLES
Beat the crowd early morning by 7 am; visit the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that you may remember forever. Continue to visit East Mebon, Neak Pean, and Preah Khan temple.
Homemade lunch at a local family
After lunch, visit Angkor Thom, the ancient city. Visit the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform from where the King could welcome back his victorious army, and the Terrace of the Leper King, which holds detailed carvings winding along a narrow passageway that leads to the Baphuon complex. Top off the day with a visit to the Ancient Royal City’s centerpiece; the Bayon temple. As you approach, you will notice the enigmatic faces of former King Jayavarman VII looking in every direction. Late afternoon is a perfect time to visit this highlight as crowds usually flock elsewhere; leaving the Bayon standing majestically in the beautiful late afternoon quietly. Later return to Siem Reap for a well-deserved rest. Dinner is on your own

DAY 3: SIEM REAP – ANGKOR WAT – DEPARTURE
Wake before sunrise this morning and make the 15-minute journey with your guide to Angkor Wat, a legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site. Said by some to symbolize the soul of the Khmer people, the magnificent temple was built during the reign of King Suryavaman II in the early 12th century. Historians believe that many of the fascinating bas reliefs and stone carvings immortalize many of the mighty king’s wars. Images of Apsara dancers decorate the five famous towers which replicate the universe according to Hindu mythology.
Your guide will take you to a serene viewpoint where you can experience the dramatic sunrise as the first rays of the day kiss the magnificent temple good morning. It is certainly one of the most unique places in the world for sunrise but is forewarned, you won’t be alone! A breakfast box will be provided at the site.
After breakfast visit Angkor Wat, one of the modern wonders of the world. Be amazed by the sheer size of the temple and learn how the Khmer Empire prospered between the 9th and 13th centuries, around the time when Angkor Wat was built. Stroll through the intricately carved hallways that show hundreds of fine carvings and discover small shrines still in use today by the local people.
Next, drive for Banteay Srei, the only major temple that was not built by a monarch. It was constructed in the 10th century and was dedicated to the Hindu god – Shiva. Banteay Srei translates to “Citadel of the Women” and is one of Angkor’s most significant structures as its walls are decorated with elaborate carvings which have been preserved remarkably well.

As a general rule, unless otherwise stated, our policy is that all cancellations must be informed in writing either by email. Cancellations will be subject to the following charges:

• More than 45 days prior to trip departure. No charge.
• 30-45 days before arrival: 10% charge
• 15-29 days before arrival: 40% charge
• 8-14 days before arrival: 60% charge
• Within 7 days before arrival: 100% charge

Travel insurance is required for all our trips. Your Travel Insurance should cover trip cancellation, medical, and helicopter evacuation. Our guide will ask for a copy of your travel insurance information in case of an emergency. You can also send it to us in advance if you like to.

Most nationalities are eligible for a one-month visa on arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap International Airport, and all land borders with neighboring countries. The cost is $30 for a tourist visa and $35 for a business visa. Bring payment in cash in US dollars. Please be aware that sometimes there can be long queues at the airport when obtaining a visa on arrival, however in general the queues move fairly quickly and it takes you around 10 to 30 minutes at the queue.

Tipping is not compulsory but it is greatly appreciated throughout Southeast Asia, especially in the tourism industry. For reference, we have provided a general guideline for tipping as below.

If you are pleased with the services provided by your tour guide and driver, then a tip for their hard work will be very much appreciated. In general, we recommend around US$5 -10/day/traveler for guides and US$5-7/day/traveler for drivers if less than 4 people in a group. We recommend around US$3-7/day/traveler for guides and US$2-5/day/traveler for drivers if there are 5 people or more.

Since the weather is consistently warm throughout the country, it is advisable to bring comfortable lightweight, loose-fitting, cotton clothing and long-sleeved items for protection from mosquitoes and the sun. During the rainy season, open-toe sandals are recommended. A hat and high-factor sunblock are advisable for protection against the hot sun when sightseeing. T-shirts and knee-length shorts are acceptable for visiting temples or pagodas, including those of Angkor Wat. Shoes are generally removed at the entrance to pagodas. For visits to the Silver Pagoda, which is within the Royal Palace grounds, visitors are advised to wear long trousers or long skirts. At the Angkor Wat complex, you’ll be on your feet and walking a lot, sometimes over rough and slippery surfaces, so choose your footwear carefully. The soles of your shoes should offer good traction.
